More Than A Teacher
Welcome to our fun little space on the internet where we believe that we are all more than just teachers! Jackie and I (Kristina) met while we were in graduate school in 2011. We became fast friends while working towards our teaching degrees. Since then, we have traveled together, lived some tough years together, and taught in the same building. We ventured into a Teachers Pay Teachers business in 2021, and now we make products and film ridiculous videos for Instagram. We are glad you are here, and hope you find our little corner of the internet to be fun, inspiring, and helpful.
Our Why
After teaching for almost 10 years, Jackie and I saw a need for digital products where students could see if they were getting the questions correct without asking us after every question. Me, having the creative brain, knew that I couldn’t do this alone, so after a few glasses of wine, Jackie and I decided to embark on a journey to help teachers.
As much as we love teaching and creating content, we are more than teachers. We are humans, moms, sisters, and so much more. Along the way, we knew that comic relief would be important to us and to all of our fellow teachers crushing it in the pandemic. We started making Instagram reels because we just really loved it and we would crack ourselves up. Turns out, some other people think we are funny too! Our most successful reels include us drinking wine, dancing like maniacs, and being ridiculous.
Meet Jackie
Jackie is a wife to Mark and a mom to three awesome kiddos. She spent most of her days in the classroom as an 8th grade math teachers, but decided in 2021 to transition to an elementary school as a paraprofessional. Jackie is passionate about working out and meal-prepping on the weekends. When she’s not working, you can find her at the pool, beach, or on her boat with her favorite glass of wine in hand.
Meet Kristina
Kristina is living her best single life and travels all around the world when she’s not in the classroom. She is currently living in Jacksonville, Florida after teaching in Charleston, SC and Nashville, TN. Kristina is passionate about traveling and having fun at all times. You will catch her engaging lessons on any given day, which normally comes with a costume. She has taught a variety of grades from 6th – 10th grade math. On the weekends, Kristina loves watching sports (Go Vols and Titans!) and binging her favorite reality television shows.
Imposter Syndrome
Jackie and I have wanted to start a website for a long time, but we often face “imposter syndrome”. We are just two ordinary women – who cares what we have to say? But we know that’s not true. We know that we can add value to many people – teachers and non-teachers alike. It doesn’t make the feeling of being an imposter go away, but we are stepping out of our comfort zone to share our world. Basically, on this page you will find all kinds of things – teaching ideas, book recommendations, meal prep ideas, outfit inspiration, and more! Some of our favorite people have encouraged us, and to the haters we say: Thank you, NEXT!
