Best Books of 2022

I read 68 books in 2022, which far exceeded my goal of 52! I had several five star books of the year, and only a few that I wish to never see again. Here are my top ten favorite books that I read in 2022.

If you love true crime podcasts and shows, this book is for you. Popular girl Andie is murdered by her boyfriend Sal – or was she?! Pip feels like Sal is innocent and she goes on a quest to prove it. This fast paced book is a page turner that all true crime lovers will enjoy.

Ok hear me out – I thought I would HATE this book. I only read it because my book club friend, Kiley Ann, convinced me I needed it in my life. When she told me it was a book about fairies, I immediately rolled my eyes. But Y’ALL – this book was SO good. I only made it through books one and two so far because they are extremely long, but it is the perfect escape.

I am a sucker for a cute, cheesy rom-com, and this book hit the nail on the head. Two best friends who end up fake dating – you can imagine the rest. This book is not spicy at all. It is just a super sweet story. I love the fact that one of them is a famous quarterback and the other is just the simple girl that’s always been there. Super predictable, but I loved every second.

For my historical fiction lovers, this is a must read! Since this book deals with the Holocaust, it does have some tough scenes to read, but I left this book with such a love for the characters and the story. I listened to the audiobook, but see myself rereading this one again in the future.

This was a book club pick in 2022, and I am so glad it was picked. I laughed until I cried. This of four meddling aunties, a dead body, and a whole lotta shenanigans. I was quite surprised by the twist at the end, and when I say I cackled throughout – I CACKLED. We even discussed in my book club who would be which auntie. You’ll see definitely yourself and maybe your friends throughout this book.

Honestly, the main character in this book is me on a page. As I read each page, I connected more and more to the characters. Sadie thinks she’s going on a date with a guy she met online, but instead, she meets up with a potential roommate. Jack’s offer to allow Sadie to live in his gorgeous house for very little rent is too good to pass up. This book made me feel all the feels – joy, sadness, apathetic, and angry. Jack is a gem and I couldn’t put this book down.

Even though this book is categorized as a mystery/thriller, it is so much than that. The humor in this book is spot on. Finlay is a writer who is mistaken as a contract killer. She inadvertently accepts the offer to help her research for her next book, and everything that follows is sheer comedy. This is the beginning of a three book series, and I have been obsessed with every story she’s told.

My book club was on FIRE this year, because this was another pick from our December meeting. While this book is set around Christmas time, it can be read in any season. Stella enters a contest with a famous Instagrammed to help save her Christmas tree farm, but she mentions that she runs it with her boyfriend, Luka. Problem is, Luka is her best friend, but not her boyfriend. He agrees to fake date her to help her win the contest, and the relationship that unfolds is pure gold. So sweet, so fun, and even made me like Christmas a little (yes – I’m a grinch – so ahead and judge me).

Six friends. One college reunion. One unsolved murder. I was hooked just from the tagline! I was fully confident in solving this murder, and boy was I wrong. This book kept me on my toes, and the ending was exactly what I didn’t know I needed. If you’re a fan or mysteries, I highly recommend.

There’s not a single Emily Henry box that I haven’t loved, but this one tops the list. Nora moves to small town Sunshine Falls to live her own story, but she keeps running into big city boy, Charlie. She’s met him several times before and they do NOT get along. With each run-in comes its own story. As the story unfolded, I fell deeper and deeper in love with the characters. Every page of this book was incredible, and I know it will be a feel good read for me for the rest of my days.

It was so hard to narrow this list down to ten. If you want to see more of the books I’ve read and their rating, follow along on Goodreads!

I’m going to do a better job this year of compiling my monthly reading lists. Of course, if you have any suggestions of what I should read – let me know if the comments!
